With its long grassy stretches and tree-shadowed paths, the park is a pleasant get-away from the thick of the city, even though it's located very near to the heart of Saratov. It is complete with picnic benches, barbeque grills, and even some pigeon soiled statues, which tend to invite large numbers of both residents and tourists alike. There is, however, still plenty of space for a dog to wander without being forced into the company of humans.

It was established in 1920, and since then the museum has acquired an extensive collection. Inside is a library, with its rows and rows of towering shelves, cluttered and crammed with thousands of books. There is a history exhibit, that displays the bones of animals long dead, as well as a weapons room complete with century old swords, suits of armor, and old cannons and firearms.

The Scrap Yard is owned by a man named Jerry, who's main purpose in life is drink as much beer as his over-extended gut can hold. As a result, he is not usually on top of the going-ons, and people tend to dispose of unwanted things in a rather disorganized manner. Cars, broken appliances, useless hunks of metal and even everyday trash litter the area, making an almost perfect enviorment for all sorts of nasty critters.

The neighborhood is not a nice place to be; some of the dirtiest, cruelest people living in the city make their home here, and it is a common sight to see human gangs partolling the streets. Most of the small houes and trailers are run-down, the majority of the yards are in dissary, and the alleys are littered with trash.

The river is one of the longest in Russia, and the main body of water in the city. On the Saratov side the water is easy to access, with gently sloping banks and long expanses of pebbly shore. On the far side, however, the bank is steep, and almost impossible to climb. Only during the coldest of months does the river freeze over, flowing swiftly into the ocean for the rest of the year.

The forest begins with shrubs off the river slope and quickly blossoms into deeper swaths of larch and spruce which segue into a patch of Russia's infamous and massive boreal forest. Loggers and hunters are a constant danger, not to mention the wildlife which might like to prey on an unwary stray..
